It sounds like it's a lot of work, but that it's worked out for you. I'm sick of research. So I guess my question is ... what keeps you interested in continuing your research? How do you keep motivated?carolinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01431606555204611826noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4362402102015121442.post-81991666088815389522009-01-16T10:54:00.000-05:002009-01-16T10:54:00.000-05:00I have been delurked! Remaining annonymous is important to me and the longer your in the field the smaller the world seems and the harder it is to remain annonymous. I am willing to be that were I identified it would take a lot of my motivation to blog away and I'd want to take down a bunch of my early posts given my feelings about my post doc.

Talking about my research interests, where or what I did my PhD in or my post-doc in makes it very, very easy to find me. But, I agree it would be nice to have more discussions about Psychology in general so I will think about it and see what I can come up with.Psych Post Dochttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02820776188567097127noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4362402102015121442.post-51059215579831761982009-01-15T18:29:00.000-05:002009-01-15T18:29:00.000-05:00PPD, it's hard for me to suggest topics for you be...PPD, it's hard for me to suggest topics for you because I don't know what your area is. If you look at the "hard" science bloggers, they blog about new research in their areas of interest, ethical dilemmas, examples of bad research, etc.

I would think that the only thing that might compromise your anonymity would be to blog about your own research. I'm a social psych gal, and I have no problem revealing that because that bit of info combined with knowledge that I'm from New England is not enough for people to figure out who I am. So I blog about social psych stuff, critiques of other fields in psychology, other stuff in psych I find interesting, etc.

One question that I love to ask other psychology buffs is what study/theory captured their attention and imagination to such an extent that they decided it was the career for them, regardless of whether they pursued that line of research in later study.

I don't know if you read Dr. Isis over at scienceblogs, or DrugMonkey, SciCurious, Leigh @ The Path Forward, but they all blog about things that are related to their area of interest. It's very cool to read when someone is incredibly enthusiastic about what they do.

I'd love to get some of that from you!JLKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05396471022931966499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4362402102015121442.post-76571694087832776192009-01-15T18:23:00.000-05:002009-01-15T18:23:00.000-05:00I officially heart Psych Post Doc! Do you feel your current role has built helpful skills should you decide to return? Or did it just make you appreciate the academic environment more?post-dochttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06493309260165352484noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4362402102015121442.post-42238215606187782482009-01-15T17:15:00.000-05:002009-01-15T17:15:00.000-05:00Thanks for the comments everyone!JLK- do you have ...Thanks for the comments everyone!

JLK- do you have any suggestions for what psych stuff you'd like me to talk about.
