I'm being stalked

by DENTISTS!!

Ever since Hubby and I moved into our new house we get mail from 3-5 different dentists per week. I've never seen Dentists work so hard to get new patients, we did not get dentist stalked when we bought our house in grad school town. Maybe it's something about the North East, maybe dentists in my state/town are hard up for patients. Maybe the economy is forcing them to branch out to get new patients (i.e., magnets, small calendars, coupons!).

Oh, and have I mentioned my pre-existing, uncontrollable fear of dentists? Yeah, being stalked by dentists does. not. help.

Also terrified of dentists. I think I had 2-3 send welcome letters when I moved - I need to muster my courage for a cleaning soon though. :(

Thanks for validating just how frightening dentists and their stalking behavior can be. :)

Katie- me too on the cleaning, which is why I bothered to open all the phobia inducing mail.

Aww man. This reminds me that I should make an appointment for winter break before classes get up and started again...

We get dentist notices since we've moved, too. Maybe a total of 15 in the past couple of months?

My limited data (the South and Boston) suggests that it is a NE thing. Dentists don't particularly advertise where I'm from...they're like individual doctor's offices. Where up here, they're all part of some group with a general name. I get the impression that you go to the practice (Sedation Dentistry or Cool Kids or whatever), not necessarily the specific dentist.

And I'm not afraid of the dentist entirely. But I do get really scared when they take that little wire pointy thing and press and try to wiggle each tooth. I always see my teeth caving in and my gum getting jabbed right through.

I'm sure you didn't need that mental image. ;-)
